They bring up in the Principle of Embarrassment for other historical figures, but ignore that same evidence from the Gospels that do precisely that. The Gospel writers do not paint themselves or Jesus in a flattering way. Instead, their depictions are pretty raw and honest.
So is Tooltime9901 raising a priori objections or a priori rejections? If they were objections, then the issues could be dealt with in some reasonable manner. But it seems more to the truth that these are nothing more than a priori rejections – and when a rejection is a priori then the task is immensely more difficult because their is no amount of reasoning, logic, or evidence that is going to be heard or helpful. The mind is already made up and no amount of argument, regardless of how sound, is going to get through. This sort of spirit is only defeated with lot’s of prayer – so pray for Tooltime9901.
Refuting the Resurrection: Part 12 – What It All Comes Down To (5:35)
What is the Kingdom of God? That is essentially the question that Tooltime9901 is asking us to ponder in this video, and it’s a good question to ask. Tooltime9901 thinks that it is a physical kingdom only and misses that there is a spiritual aspect to it as well. In his conversation with Nicodemas, Jesus tells him that unless he is born in water and Spirit then he cannot enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5-7). At the beginning of his ministry, while in Galilee, Jesus was preaching that “the Kingdom of God was at hand” (Mark 1:14-15).
And while Jesus said that his “Kingdom was not of this world” (John 18:36), that does not mean that the Kingdom of God is not in this world, “for indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20).
Refuting the Resurrection: Part 11 – Why Has The Kingdom of God Still Not Arrived? (5:57)
It is quite clear in this little diatribe that Tooltime9901 is ignorant of first century Jewish mindset and the religious leaders attitude towards keeping the Law. Also, both Paul and James’ conversions are good evidence for the Resurrection event because neither were inclined to be followers of Jesus. So if Tooltime9901 wishes to explain their sudden change of direction and provide evidence to support his claim, then let’s hear it. Oh wait…Tooltime9901 was not an eyewitness of the events, therefore, according to his criteria, we cannot take anything he says about something that happened two millennia ago with any seriousness. I guess that means that Tooltime9901s counter claim is clearly not all the impressive.
